No. Instapure Tap Filter Systems are not designed to purify water. DO NOT use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the systems.
Yes. Instapure Tap Filter Systems have been independently certified to reduce specific contaminants, such as pesticides and trihalomethanes. In addition, the filters contain patented filter media, which are superior at reducing selected contaminants, including heavy metals like lead and mercury. Replace filter every 750 litres, 3 months or if you experience a reduction in water flow. (R8 filters should be replaced every 370 litres, 2 months, or when the indicator light turns red, whichever comes first). It’s important to change your filter regularly to maintain optimum performance. Users with hard water should increase frequency of filter changes.
Filter cartridge life is directly dependent on your local water conditions and frequency of use.

The shelf life of an unused, packaged filter is indefinite. Filters should be kept in the sealed bag and stored in a cool, dry place until you’re ready to use them.

Instapure Tap Filter Systems (F2, F5 & F7) can only be installed on taps with external threading of 22 x 1.0mm and 22 x 1.25mm or internal threading of 24 x 1.0mm and 23 x 1.25mm.
For F8C and F8W, the adaptor fits M24x1.0 External (Male) threads and M22x1.0 Internal (Female) threads.

You can remove the aerator of your tap and bring it to any Instapure dealer or Duro International Pte Ltd to check for compatibility.
Instapure Tap Filter Systems are generally easy to install, when you have the measurements right. Hand tools are usually not required for installation. A roll of PTFE (White) tape might come in useful should you encounter leaks.

The R2 (within F2) is made of Granular Activated Carbon (GAC). The R5 and R7 (within F5 & F7) are Carbon Block filters made from a patented ceramic compound and a rigid microporous matrix of activated carbon.
The R8 (of F8) is also a Carbon Block filter. The proprietary new activated carbon technology enables the R8 to reduce up to 33 contaminants that may be found in water.
Small particles of carbon called carbon "fines" are normal to be present in a new filter. Carbon "fines" appear in water as a suspended solid that is black or grey in colour. They are generally noticeable when new filters are first installed. They are also generally found more in GAC (Granular Activated Carbon) carbon filters. All filters, especially GAC filters, should be generously flushed for two minutes or more through your system until the water runs clear.
You may feel the water a little bit soapy from the newly installed Tap filter System or after changing a new filter cartridge. You should flush the filter for two minutes or more (approximately 20 litres or more) for every new filter cartridge installed. (The flushed water can be used to water plants.)
Filtered water will flow at a noticeably slower rate than unfiltered water, because the filter media restricts the flow of the water. This restriction helps the filter trap unwanted contaminants. The slower flow rate allows the water more time to come in contact with the filter, thus optimizing the water treatment as the water flows through the carbon filter media and other contaminant-reducing additives. For this reason, it is suggested that consumers use filtered water for both drinking and cooking.
No! Filter only cold water. Running hot water through the filters will severely decrease the effectiveness of the filter.
As contaminants and sediment get filtered out of the water, they collect on the filter leaving less “filtering area”. This is why, over time, your filter becomes less efficient. As time goes on, there will be less and less space for the water to pass through. And eventually no water passes through the system.
If water coming out of your tap is less than desirable, the filter might get “choked” up before the stated filtering capacity or time.
When the water pressure dropped is drastic, change the filter.
The Replacement Filter Cartridge of R2, R5 and R7 can fit into any of the following models: F2, F3, F5 and F7. Meaning you can install R7, which has the highest level of filtration in the series, into a F2. This will instantly upgrade filtration performance without paying extra to change system.
Due to its unique design, the R8 will only fit the F8.
No. The battery is embedded in the waterproof compartment of the system.
As mentioned above, the light flashes when water runs through. Water filtering does not rely on the battery either. You can continue to use the F8 even when the battery ran flat. The filtering performance is not affected. As a rule of thumb, change the filter every 2-3 months.
